# Miri Ben-Ari - The Hiphop Violinist (??!?!??!)

Miri Ben-Ari… so I gave it a listen, its 12:34 at night right now but hey when you find something wacky like this you cant wait until morning to hear it. Miri Ben-Ari is an Israeli who is jazz trained , I cant find anything about her doing anything in the hiphop game except this album and a few things with Kanye. Regardless of her doing shit with peeps like Lil WAyne and Baby and some guy named Fat Man Scoop (is this even hiphop.. i think hes reggaetone or something? Or am I missing something) I think the wack mix of colabo artists are the doings of Kanye but hey who am I to judge its not likes SHES rapping or anything, shes just producing the beat. Never the less as far as being the self proclaimed “Hip Hop Violinist” i dont think she is the first to do this by any stretch. I was watching Leno a few months back and saw 2 guys on there playing violins making just the most awesome beats using them.

So what did I think of the album? Well, track 9 “New World Symphony feat Pharoahe Monch” is pretty damn good. I like the beat, Pharoahe brings it like he usually does and the fiddler does a decent beat on this one. Theres one with Doug E Fresh that feels kinda forced… i cant put my finger on it but its just a lil bit odd is all. Overall I’d pass on this album.. its a lil weak to say the least. In all honesty, I dont see her beats being all that hiphop, but that could just be me.  
I’ll find more info on the other hiphop violinists and maybe do a decent review on their album.
