Because of my job I need to keep up with the Jones’s and in following my track record of being self taught I thought I’d take the plunge. I havent’ looked at any of the Vista betas since I wanted my work machine to be stable and as you’ll read below I did my fair share of dealing with XP betas back in the day. **1990** My love hate relationship with Windows started with Windows 2.0 (which was released in 1987) I got my first computer the winter of 1990 for my birthday and Windows 3.0 came out months after I got my computer. My great uncle was my source of software and he bought me the 3.0, 3.1 and 3.11 upgrades. 3.0 ran like a champ on my 386/12, it almost never crashed on me. **1995** 1995 came around it was my junior year in HS and the world was buzzing about Windows 95, I got a copy from my uncle this time too. 1995 was fast it had new features and worked fairly well on my 486/SX which later became a DX2/100 which was way faster. **1998** I’m 20 years old I laid down the money for Windows 98, this version lasted for 2 years until 2000 came out. I think I ran this on a Pentium processor running at 266. **2000** I got a copy of XP Beta from a friend of mine and I like many people followed along with the beta until its release in 2001\. I had a Pentium 3 and later a Pentium 4 ranging in various mhz and ghz. **2007** Six years later and Microsoft finally releases Vista. This year is also the year I’ll be switching from Windows XP to OSX on my home machine. I’ll run [Bootcamp](http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/?ref=jasontucker.blog) and/or [Parallels](http://www.parallels.com/?ref=jasontucker.blog) to give Vista a taste but I think I’ll use it more on my work laptop then on my home machine. Currently my home machine is an Intel 3.2ghz with Hyperthreading. Months after I got this processor the Dual Core versions came out.
