Hospital part 2
It’s 9:02am and the nurse came in to draw the blood. Jen had a few fits because of how the potassium burns when it is introduced to the body. She got up at 5:30am this morning to go pee (with IV still in her) and when she came back her hand was hurting like hell. See they put the IV in her hand because she had a decent sized vein in there. Anyhow they deluted the postassium and that made the pain stop a bit. Anyhow the blood is off to the lab and we gotta wait an hour plus for the results. IF we good then we’ll get to go home. I didnt sleep all that much last night and well Jen didn’t sleep for shit so I’m planning on dropping her off at home then heading out to work for a couple of hours and then come back home and sleep. It was weird last night with her ‘sleeping’ in the hospital bed and me sleeping on the fold out. Sleeping separate sucks. Even tho she sleeps with a crapload of pillows and gives me almost no space, im so use to that and the fold out couch thing just wasn’t what I was use to.
Until the lab results come in were in limbo. After all that potassium pumped into her system (3 normal bags yesterday and 4 jumbo (2 times the size) bags I’d imagine she should be good to go. 10meq (wtf is meq is beyond me) x 3 and 20 meq x 4 = 110 meq of potassium is quite a bit of potassium I suppose.
Ends up Jen wont have to do the IV drip of potassium today, they are giving her some potassium in drink form. Yeah tastes like ass but it isnt hellwater via IV.
