Recovery, Baby & Dish Network
Sorry I havent updated much. Its been pretty crazy over here. First off Mom and Baby are doing fine. Jen’s starting to get use to breastfeeding Jessalyn, I have even had the chance to bottle feed her (then had a scare that I was choking her, ended up she just wasnt swallowing the milk for some reason, but it did scare me). During my time home I’ve been doing some tidying up on the bills and trying to squeeze a few more dollars out.
Currently were paying like 150 a month for cable and modem. Why is that? Dunno, we have basic Digital cable and a cablemodem. I got pissed at how much we were paying for almost nothing and talked to xinu who just switched to DishNetwork. He just switched a bit ago and got 3 rooms with a DVR (kinda like Tivo, but not as fancy, and doesnt cost 12 bucks a month extra like what were paying). Consolidation is good, and not having to pay Tivo 12 bucks and be able to record 2 shows at once while watching a 3rd show that was previously recorded sounds like a good idea and money well spent. So I called up a local Dish installer and told him I would like to have it installed before I go back to work on tuesday. He said he’d try his best and would call back in a bit. Minutes later he called and confirmed a few things and said he can fit me in for install on friday (this was yesterday). I was stoked he could pull it off. I really didnt want Jen to be home alone with a crying baby and some guy trying to show her all the work he did and explain how the thing works. It only makes since for me to be home during this install and setup.
So how much is it costing me? Not sure just yet, install was free I know that. Baserate on the package were getting is ($42.99 America’s Top 120) + ($5 DVR Fee) + ($4.98 extra reciever) = $52.97. since we dont have a phone here at home were forced to pay a 5 buck fee that covers some “Anti Piracy” deally. Whatever 🙂 Like Xinu was telling me, 1/2 the price for more stuff. Just last week charter screwed us on some billing issue and we were down for 2 days without cable or internet access.
Speaking of internet access, we pay like 25 bucks a month for it from charter. I dont want to switch to DSL (DSLHELL?) so were going to still pay them for net access.
I’ll drop a review here once everything is hooked up.
One thing I was thinking was, why arnt we switching to DirecTV which has a REAL Tivo with it? Well the main reason from what I gathered is DirecTV and Tivo are splitting sometime soon and I didnt wanna have the divorce of these to mess stuff up for either one. Also, Tivo has been giving us some issues when it comes to conflects and with weird scheduling that the networks have been doing. Making shows run over time by a minute and all sorts of nonsense. Will this DVR by Dish fix this? Is this a good choice? Not sure but we’ll soon find out.
