Yesterday

Yesterday I went to this ladies house that was shopping at Jen’s mom work (office depot) and bought a copy of XP, but didnt know how to install it. Jen’s mom gave her my number and we discussed what needed to be done. I arrived at her house and began working on her computer. She said that some other people before me have worked on the troubled computer so I wasnt the first to try to fix it. I nuked the install of 98 and installed XP Home. Things were going well then there was an error from reading the CD.. I had it continue and I *thought* it retried and worked after that… nope, after the install finished it booted up using the “classic” skin on xp, and the fancy one wasnt selectable. Damnit… so I tried something else, that didnt work, repaired it… that didnt work. By now its 9:30 and I just called Jen told her im wrapping stuff up and will be home soon. Lil’ woozy from not eating I stopped where I was and told her I’d tackle the task again tomorrow.

So today my plan is to nuke xp, and use another XP disc to try and install it. We’ll see how that goes. If not I may have to do a 2000 to XP upgrade and see if that may work for us.
