My Wife brought back the Friday Five
My awesome Wife Jen has brought back something on her blog that we use to do every Friday on our LiveJournal’s back in the day… Friday Five. The idea is to read my answers then copy paste the questions to your own blog to give you something to blog about 🙂 Lets begin…
- Would you consider yourself an organized person? Why or why not?
- Do you keep some type of planner, organizer, calendar, etc. with you, and do you use it regularly?
- Would you say that your desk is organized right now?
- Do you alphabetize CD’s, books, and DVD’s, or does it not matter?
- What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever had to organize?
No, not very much in the “meat space” but on my computer(s) I am. My desk at home is awful and I have a hard time finding anything most days. At work its pretty clean and easy to find things mainly because I dont have much there to clutter.
I mainly use iCal / google calendar at home for Jen and mine stuff. We have them sync’d and then put onto our iPhones so we know what each other are up to and can plan a bit better on the fly.
I have a decent idea where things are but I’ve realized I don’t have the same gift my wife does of taking inventory of the entire house mentally.
The family has their set of movies on a wall in the living room in whatever order they have them in. All of my audio and video assets are organized on the file server, music is in iTunes and I have it organize it however it sees fit. I’ve given up on making heads or tails of how it goes about that really. Movies/TV shows downloaded online / ripped from DVD are organized in the following: TV, Movies, Kids Movies, Watched Movies. The only thing I do add to the video files is the (YYYY) year date at the end of the filename.
When I lost my job and we had to move into Jen’s Grandmothers house for a while we had to move LOTS of items to a storage unit so there was room for us and the kids. In order to do so we had to move TONS of things from her “work room” which mainly consisted of paint supplies, canvases and far too many to count wooden picture frames.. well, I remember those the most since they weighed so much and took forever to move. We had massive stacks of them in this storage unit and there was no way we were going to move them. Well, until we realized later that we needed more space and had to move them to a bigger unit. OMFG, what a pain.
